As most of you probably know, Madame Tussauds is a wax museum,
what is not so obvious is that it is managed by Merlin Entertainments.
In Los Angeles, the Museum is located in the heart of Hollywood - on Hollywood Boulevard and is the ninth in the entire Tussauds franchise.
Work on the Museum lasted for eight years before it officially opened.
The first figures that came to the Museum cost about $350,000 - EACH - it was Beyoncé and Jamie Foxx.
At the entrance to the museum we have figures of Marilyn Monroe and Johnny Depp, which are intended to encourage tourists to go further.
Once inside, we have one, slightly larger figure, in fact it is the largest in the Museum -
King Kong.
There are about 150 figures of famous people throughout the museum, such as:
DANIEL CRAIG
known, among others, for his role as James Bond in the film "007 Quantum of Solace"
HUGH HEFNER
Founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine.
CAMERON DIAZ
Known, among others, from the movie "Charlie's Angels".
Where did the idea for the Museum come from?
In 1835, Marie Grosholtz, now known as Marie Tussaud, arrived in London.
She didn't come to London alone! With her came wax casts of the heads of aristocrats guillotined during the French Revolution.
This was the beginning of a huge collection of wax figures, which today, fortunately, are known in a different form. Currently, museums present life-size figures of famous people.
The first museum was founded in London, and today you can find branches on 4 continents!
In Europe, Madame Tussaud's can be found in Amsterdam, Berlin, Blackpool and Vienna.
In the United States, of course, the topic of today's blog, i.e. the Hollywood Museum, but also in Las Vegas, New York and Washington.
There is also one branch in Australia, which you can visit while in Sydney.
What may be surprising is that there are as many as five of them in Asia!
One in Bangkok, but also in Busan, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai.
Ticket prices:
Online $19.99
At the museum $30.95
Combo with 2 other museums 37$
