Month In The USA | Camp America

Catch The PLANE & get INSANE

Month In The USA | Camp America

girl in the dinner

It's been a month since I've been in the US and my experience was changing every week,

now it's changing every day.

At the beginning, it really bothered me that I came here to live my American Dream and it turned out that I was working only with Europeans... Now I know that there is nothing wrong with it because every day I have contact with hundreds of Americans who come to the Camp.

It's really cinematic, if I may call it that.

The opportunity to play basketball with kids from the Bronx and be one of them for a moment is indescribable!

Participating in typically American games and activities, celebrating their traditions with them, exchanging cultural facts, making friends...

PRICELESS !

Even though I interact with so many people living here every day, I still can't answer the question "What are Americans like?"

I can't say what they really are like, because sometimes it seems to me that they are very family-oriented, helpful and very nice, and sometimes it seems to me that it is just a mask they put on "in front of the audience".

I can say one thing for sure -

EVERYTHING IS BIG IN AMERICA!

Big cars, big portions of food, big drinks, big women, big men, big ambitions, big expectations... etc.

In my area - Connecticut/New York - there are a lot of Latinos, which I like very much, because as some of you already know, I lived in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands for some time, so the opportunity to learn not only American but also Spanish differences linguistic and cultural is a wonderful thing for me!

I must admit that after a long day or week of work, sometimes I miss walking with headphones in my ears and just free my mind.

Why? - Since I live in the perfect place...

I literally live in the bosom of nature, so I can only dream of a lonely evening walk in the forest.

My current home is also home to many wild animals such as:

Lots of snake species

(including copperhead moccasin,

timber rattlesnake)

Moose

The truth is that these animals are more afraid of us than we are of them, so they do not pose a threat if they hear someone approaching them.

When they are far away and feel threatened, they will give us a warning sign.

However, despite everything, we must always be careful when going outside our camp,

or even while staying at the camp.

forest

On May 15, we were surprised by 4 tornadoes that passed near our town.

tornado

One in Hamden, other in Oxford, New Fairfield and Brookfield.

It was my day off, I went out to get coffee and suddenly I heard an alarm signal that as soon as it sounds, everyone should immediately seek shelter.

Several dozen people took shelter in the designated place and waited until the threat passed.

Thank God everything passed us by, unfortunately 5 people died in the state area that day...

I need to admit that surroundings such as water, forest and mountains inspire me a lot and I often wander into the world of dreams.

Therefore, as a final accent of today's entry, I would like to share selected quotes that may inspire you, Dear Traveler, to travel. 😁
